Finished Fiesta Rug

Process to Finishing the Fiesta Rug

Hope you have had a great day.  Yesterday we showed you the weaving process.  This continues until the Fiesta Rug is finished and then it is taken off the loom.  The next step is tying the rug.  We take 6 to 8 strands and tie a knot and continue with this until both ends of the rug are finished. After we have finished both ends, the ends are then trimmed to approximately 2" in length.  We set the knots and fringe by steaming the yarn.  This process keeps the fringe from fraying and the polyester warp provides a durable rug.

Beginning of Weaving the Fiesta Rug

Good evening.  So far we have shown you the process of getting the bags of upholstery selvedge to the point of setting up a run.  Today we are going to show you the beginning of the weaving process.  Before you can begin weaving the upholstery selvedge, you need to set up your warp.  We do 16 rows of warp which is twice the normal amount.  After this has been completed, we then begin weaving the colored upholstery selvedge to create the look of the Fiesta Rug.  As you can see from the pictures, the vibrant colors are starting to show...

Fiesta Rug Run

Good evening and hope you all stayed warm this weekend.  As we blogged earlier about the Fiesta Rug run and showed you how the upholstery selvedge looks like, now we are going to go to the next step for a run.  Each color, as in the Fiesta Rug, is pulled and shuttled.  After the colors are all shuttled, they are then lined up in order ready to be woven.   For any rug, this is what it takes to set it up.  As you can see, the colors are all lined up for the Fiesta Rug and are now ready for the...
